Dr. Cook is a physician-scientist and Assistant Professor in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Iowa. He studies the interactions between epithelial cells and cells of the innate and adaptive immune system in the context of inflammation and seeks to identify new therapies to modify inflammatory disease, with particular focus on the role of the CFTR protein in inflammation. This research is broadly relevant for many type-2 inflammatory diseases but holds particular importance in individuals affected by CF disease where loss of CFTR leads to increased type 2 inflammation.
