Wenjie Yu, PhD
Research Assistant Professor
Biography
Dr. Yu’s research focuses on understanding the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms behind mucus secretion in healthy and CF lungs, with a particular emphasis on submucosal glands (SMGs). His work leverages porcine models and advanced techniques like single-cell transcriptomics and has led to key discoveries about the cell biology and pathophysiology of SMGs in CF, particularly related to the mechanisms in which the airways sense microenvironmental stimuli and facilitate mucus ejection from SMGs. His most recent work focuses on understanding cellular and molecular mechanisms causing SMG hypertrophy in CF.
